Here is my contribution to the first year exhibition. Titled 'City Skylines', it is based on the changing background of the city's landscape and the silhouettes of buildings formed.

The City Skies
Various city landscapes from Galway manipulated by changing skylines. I've used a mixture of audio clips such as muffled conversations to echo the background noises of a real urban landscape. Towards the end the audio turns to nature to create an unusual contrast of a rural audio in an urban landscape. Done with a make shift green screen, this lo-fi visual draws influence from Kelly Richardson's early work.
Kelly Richardson
Last Monday I went to a talk by Canadian artist Kelly Richardson. I found great interest in her photography and video installations. Drawing inspiration from various horror movies and science fiction she creates landscapes that hover between reality and fantasy, creating possible futuristic worlds.
Leviathan is an installation I got to see as part of the Tulca festival in Galway.

Galway (dusk/night)
When observing the city in the evening I began to notice how the atmosphere changes. A slower pace is created as people wind down from there daily routines. Artifical light is an important aspect to take into account as it creates a completely new view on the city.
